How the Outwitting Series Got Started

Outwitting Squirrels Was the First

"In 1988 I had this idea for a book," said author Bill Adler, Jr. "Actually, the idea wasn’t voluntary. I had a birdfeeder on the window of my apartment building." Adler explained that he was originally from New York City and when somebody suggested putting up a birdfeeder, he was dubious. "Why would anybody want to attract pigeons?" he asked.

"Anyway," Adler went on, "I set up my feeder and then I got…a squirrel! Not just at my feeder, but in it. This squirrel was using my horizontal feeder both as a dinner plate and a couch. I knew that I had do so something about this situation, so I did what a writer should do: I wrote the book, Outwitting Squirrels: 101 Cunning Stratagems to Reduce Dramatically the Egregious Misappropriation of Seed from Your Birdfeeder by Squirrels."
